Africana Workshop

Mississippi River Valley Chapter of EGA is offering Africana by Lorene Salt as a Zoom Workshop. “Africana” incorporates string art, needlepoint and laid fillings stitches. The overall design integrates many different stitches including Jessicas, Rhodes Hearts, a variety of Waffles and Amadeus Motifs. Techniques include Diaper Patterns, and Laid Fillings. This class will appeal to those students who would like to try new techniques while challenging themselves by mastering complex canvaswork stitches. Lorene Salt states,” I am fascinated with deep, bright, rich colours. This colour palette caught my eye while watching a program about Africa. So much colour for the soul! I immediately went to my threads and pulled all the rich colours. Then with canvas in hand I began this journey. My African trip in colour and thread!”This piece is stitched on 18 count Ecru mono canvas. Skill Level: Intermediate Advanced.

Total cost: MRVC members $320; Non-members $330

Class price includes kit+chart+postage(USA) and two Zoom sessions with Lorene Salt. There will be pre-work so the kits will be sent in September 2024 to ensure time to accomplish this. Registration for MRVC members opens July 1, 2023. Non-MRVC members can register starting August 1, 2023. We need 10 people to make the workshop a go. A $50 deposit is required with registration with final payment of $270 for members and $280 for non-members due May 1,2024. Registration closes May 1, 2024.
